Dom factory owner12/29/2023 It's basic supply and demand and again - unless people are hoarding to mess with the economy it's perfectly normal.ĭoes inflation suck? Absolutely! It makes an event painful for the average player and keeps items out of reach from newer and average players. They aren't obligated to dramatically underprice their items because of the demand. These are our omelette and MP sellers right now. Then particularly right now we have people that are selling items at an inflated price - but that's because the Neo market has seen a HUGE adjustment in demand for certain items with no adjustments to supply. As long as they aren't hoarding items to create artificial supply dips I think they're a valid part of a game with the economy. Enjoying reselling is just as valid as enjoying customizing. This group is a grey area for me - Neo has an economy and people like this are a part of economies. They usually enjoy reselling as their primary activity on Neo and set out to make profit but at a lower volume than the botters. There's a group that is like the ones above but does it without aids like bots or scripts. This group deserves our scorn and should be dealt with because they can cause huge unnecessary swings in the economy and the average player can't "git gud" their way around a bot. Some of these hoard specific items to artificially reduce supply and keep prices high. They buy low and sell high to make profit and then snowball that into bigger operations. It seems like we have a habit as a community of conflating a bunch of different types of people as "inflators" and talking about them equally when not every "inflator" is actually a problem.Īt the worst end you have botters and people with scripts using techniques that can vastly outpace any humans' ability to compete. But I'm sure this is something that can be done if we work together." But also for the other players we can also make it more accessible and kind of balancing the gameplay so it will be an ongoing process and I don't think we can solve it over night. We have being seeing a lot of community driven initiatives to help tackle this- Donating items with each other and I think those are great initiatives and we love to see ways on how we can solve this together and I think that's also a big part of- the number one party that having out community ambassadors to help us fine tune these plans and make sure that for the players who enjoy restocking they can continue to have their fun. So, hopefully we can solve this inflation problem together. So, keep in mind we have to balance between the fun, the grinding, but also- what Neopets as a game is about. But we are trying to make sure that everyone follows the rules, for example, if someone is using bots and auto-buying mechanisms, we are planning on having ways to stop most of them and make it better for real players to actually enjoy. They are basically- probably more serious players who've been trying to game the system but that's also part of the fun for them- for Neopets being a very heavily trading game related.īut what we learned from this event is making sure- we want to make it harder for people to inflate items but we wouldn't say that it's- restocking is bad for example. And buying low, selling high has been one of the main game loops- and I think it's not fair for us to call them inflators when they're also a part of the community. I would say Neopets has been kind of- the trading element has been a big part of Neopets. Cause while solving an inflation problem is probably a million dollar question and it's not one that's only unique to Neopets. "Yeah, so I wouldn't say we would punish the inflators.
